Merit Badges Requirements

SCOUTS SHOULD READ THE MERIT BADGE REQUIREMENTS POSTED HERE OR READ THE MERIT BADGE BOOK BEFORE COMING TO CAMP

We use the most recent requirements at camp. Click on the merit badge to view the requirements.
[will be updated as we check out the 2006 requirements]

Many Merit Badges are too hard physically for most younger Scouts, or a Scout has to pass advancement items in the Tenderfoot, Second, and First Class Advancement Program. We ask you to PLEASE make sure the Scout is able to complete a Merit Badge before he takes up a class space. Nothing is more disappointing then NOT completing a Merit Badge because one is not large enough or does not have the experiences received when passing rank advancements, unless it's not being able to get into a class because of overcrowding.

It is recommended that a Scout just ENJOY being at Camp Whitsett; enjoy all the camp areas. A Scout should take 2 or 3 Merit Badges AT THE MOST in order to be able to "get his money's worth" with the wide range of Camp Whitsett's unique features. Don't judge a Scout's success at camp by the number of Merit Badges he brings home, but by the number of pleasant memories he has after taking part in a variety of activities. Camp offers fun and exciting activities that can't be found at any cost back home.
