Special Patches and Awards

Beaver Award

1. Attend Camp Whitsett for 6 days and 5 nights.
2. Complete a one hour service or conservation project.
3. Pass 5 rank advancements or one merit badge.
4. Put the Scout Oath and Law into daily use.
5. Do your share of the patrol duties.
6. Participate in a troop, "free time" activity.

7. Complete assignments given to you by your leader.

The Flying "W" Award

1. Complete the Beaver Award requirements.
2. Complete an additional 2 hour service project.
3. Complete 8 of the following:
a) Tie 5 of the basic 8 knots.
b) Complete one handicraft project.
c) Teach a skill to two or more Scouts.
d) Complete one additional merit badge.
e) Find, prepare, and eat an edible plant (see Nature)
f) Point out 4 constellations.
g) Participate as a leader in a troop activity.
h) Complete the quarter mile swim.
i) Shoot a score of 40 or better at the Rifle Range.
j) Shoot a score of 20 or more at the Archery Range.

4. Complete an assignment given to you by your leader..

Uncle Steve Patrol Award

The Uncle Steve Patrol Award is named for former staff man
Steve Balding. Patrols earn beads for each event and receive
the Uncle Steve Patrol Patch at the end of the week.

1. See the Commissioners to get your Uncle Steve Award lanyard and 1st bead.
2. Visit each Program Area to take part in the Uncle Steve Patrol activity. Get a
colored bead for your lanyard.
3. When you have 10 beads, see the Program Director for the final task and the
Program Director bead.
4. Go to the Trading Post to get your patches.

The Whitsett Challenge

The Whitsett Challenge is a special program for older Scouts.

Working with the Camp Program Director, the Whitsett Challenge
Scout completes challenges to test his skills and abilities,
and to show his leadership within his troop.

To earn this award, just see the Program Director by Monday
afternoon and set yourself a Whitsett Challenge.
